How to wear long skirt when you are short?

I have never heard of the Swedish clothing brand called “COS” before. One day recent I went to do some anti-stress shopping at  Bahrain City Centre, I saw quite a number of shoppers carried the shopping bags with brand-name and logo of  “COS”. I then asked one pass-by shopper about the brand. She kindly said that it is a good Swedish brand with 70% discount on many items. Because of the word “70%” I decided to go to the shop and have a look.

I like the brand almost immediately. The designs are simple but timeless and trendy. The fabric is good quality and the cutting as well as pattern are well-design. I bought a few items there including this black long skirt. I am not a big fan of the skirt that long enough to cover to my knee because I think it will make me look shorter and fatter.

But this skirt doesn’t make me look shorter and fatter at all. I think the perfect cutting of this pencil skirt held my body better than I thought. And the fabric is comfortable but structured. So if you want to try a long skirt please keep in mind that

– The cutting of the skirt should not be too loose. Pencil skirt style is the best.

– The hight waistline is highly recommended So it will help creating the vision of extra body lenght.

– The fabric should be soft structure but not too soft.

– The length of the skirt should not end at the widest part of your tights or legs because it will only create a enlarge vision of your legs.

– Pair the skirt with stylish blouse.

Statement white blouse and necklace to work

Happy Monday!

Today the weather is a bit cooler here in the island so I decided to wear my new statement white blouse and statement necklace. As I told you guys earlier, I have to wear mourning attire to my office until the end of October this year. So I paired my blouse with simple small tweed tailor made pants. If only I don’t need to wear mourning attire, I would simply add red accessories to brighten up my day.

See the difference? Accessory can empower your daily work. It is indeed essential. I love buying ok priced accessories. Accessorize is my favourite place where I normally shop for nicely designed items. Especially during sale season.

Sunflower day!

Hello everyone,

Today I feel yellow is the right colour. The temperature in Bahrain keeps on rising. During the day it can reach 40 degree celcius. It is so hot and burning so I think yellow is a good choice of colour to wear. Dont you agree? Red will be too much of a burning feeling here. ^_^ I wore simple tee and cropped yellow trousers with my new yellow heels that I bought from Promod a fews weeks ago. They were a perfect match. I carried a small but colourful purse I got from Paul Smith shop in Bahrain for 75% discount! Love the bright colour on it. Hope you like my picks of today.

Celebrating Thai New Year Day in pink

Happy Thai New Year Day or Happy Songkarn Day everyone,

Today is our traditional New Year so I wanted to wear my new bright pink embroided shirt to mark the occasion. Many decades ago the Government of Thailand annouced that the offically national New Year Day is 1 January. Thailand and Thai people then enjoys celebrating two New Year Days. Let end our old chapter of our life and welcome the new beginning. Wish you all happy a very happy New Year.

Another black lace dress

I found this dress a few months ago. I love the lace pattern on it. It is so delicate and lady-like. Not my everyday office attire. But I want to celebrate my sister’s birthday today. So I feel that it is a good occasion to wear such a beautiful and luxurious dress. It is quite hard to be away from the one you love on special days but thanks to Steve Jobs, we have smart phones. Distance seems shorthen and it is not impossible to feel like I was there with my sister to share her birthday cake. Happy Birthday to you Netty.

Olive and denim

Yesterday I took K to see Sesame Street Show at the Bahrain Exhibition Centre. It was kind of fun for him though he refused to join other kids to dance. So I picked this outfit for the Show.

I always love olive colour so when I saw this olive top at H&M I couldn’t help but taking it home. I feel that now when I buy clothes I have a better focus. So when I buy things like blouse, shirt, skirt or dress, I have to think of what I have had in my wardrobe. New pieces should be fit in with the rest.

Before I started blogging, I tended to buy many clothes that were big enough to cover my boxy figure. It was hard to find things that fit me in my home country since everyone seems to have size 0. So when I found big sized clothes, I just bought them. I then ended up having clothes that didn’t fit with each other. Chaotic wardrobe indeed. Lately, I looked at my blog pages, I decided to ditch many pieces of clothes that I don’t need. I found out that many of them were so loose and didn’t flatter my boxy shape at all. Blogging helps me find my right clothes that flatter my figure. I am still learning to style myself and I hope it will get better and better with all of your help and support.

The Gucci belt was something I bought last year and hardly wear it. I cannot find the way to wear it right. I think it was nice with my deep olive top.

The handbag is from Paul Smith. I like the two contrast colours on the bag, black and orange-red with the grey handles. This pair of shoes I love very much. It was okay price from Zara a few seasons ago.

Before the Show, we had lunch at a nice place called “Le Chocolat” The cakes and chocolate there are amazingly delicious. Love it.

Wearing a blue sa-rong on cultural day

 

Hello everyone.

Yesterday it was a busy day for me. Our office was invited to take part in the annual cultural and bazar called “Bahrain for All”. It is a showcase presenting how people live in harmony in the small island in the Middle East. It was fun. I decided to wear a blue sa-rong with my favourite lace top. But I dont want my costume looked so traditional, I prefered it to be more trendy and contemperary. Now it has become a trend that many women in Thailand wear traditional costume on a daily basis to be more conservative but not too traditional. I learned how to wear a sa-rong like a skirt from youtube. I went to a mall before going to the bazar and shop assistants at Karen Millen and Ted Baker gave compliments on my look.

Black long vest and pearls

I bought this black long vest from Ipekyol, Turkish brand, last month. I like the design of having a light violet pearl pin attached the two sides of the front part together instead of buttons.  I however wonder how and what I can pair it with. A few days ago, my formal boss sent me a lace short dress which matches perfectly well with it.

 

Striped dress on a playground

Hello everyone,

I got this striped dress from Oman at a good price tag. I always wanna wear this kind of pattern on a dress but I tend to think stripe will only make you look bigger so I avoid wearing it. Since I lose some weights my confidence grows, I decided to wear it to see my hairdresser and bring K to the playground. When I look at myself in the mirror I think it enlarge my body shape. But who care!? I am gonna have a good time with my boy in this dress. It is the positive attitude toward yourself , that counts.

I left K at the play ground with J and drove to see my hairdresser. Unfortunately my favourite hairdresser was occupied, I was introduced to a new one. I agreed to let the new unfarmiliar face cut my hair. The haircut turn out nicely. Lucky me! Hope you agree!

A black dress and white peral necklace, a timesless work attire

For a professional look, dark colours seem to be appropriate especially in my career field of work. Since we are instructed to wear black to mourn for our late king for a year, black dress is a must staple of our everyday work attire. I love lace and realise that many of my clothes have some lace deco on. This dress is a lovely piece with part of lace deco on both sleeves and bottom half. For 30 Euro for this dress I am quite satisfied with its quality.

I love this classic YSL handbag and have an eye on it for a long time. Mostly it will not be on sale since it is classic and timeless but yeah finally I got it from Sak Fifth in Bahrain with 60% reduction on price tag. How could I say no. I have a 10″ classic Chanel handbag which is too small for my stuff and the jumbo size is too big for my figure. This YSL is a proper size for me. Love it.

This pair of heels are from Matalan shop in Muscat. Love light warm grey tone of them.
